Isis picks Proxama to develop BlackBerry 10 NFC wallet app
Proxama has been selected by Isis, the mobile commerce joint venture created by AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless, to develop the Isis mobile wallet application for Blackberry 10 NFC devices.
GARNER: "It's a great opportunity to expand our footprint"
The deal follows the US venture's announcement in July that it will be making NFC mobile paymentsavailable to consumers across the United States from "later this year".
"The app will support all the current Isis features available today, making all the features work with BlackBerry devices," Neil Garner, CEO of Proxama, told NFC World.
"We've known the people at Isis for some time and we have worked closely with BlackBerry for a number of years," he added.
"For us, the partnership is a great endorsement for what we're doing. This is a fantastic endorsement because, in the US, there is only Isis and Google Wallet active doing NFC, which is a lot different to what's going on in Europe. This is our first real project that we're doing stateside, and it's a great opportunity to expand our footprint."
Proxama has previously worked with leading brands such as Eat,KFC, EE, and Barclaycard on NFC initiatives to support consumer engagement and mobile wallets.

Cubic launches NextWave NFC transit ticketing platform
Transit ticketing provider Cubic has launched NextWave, an NFC platform designed to enable transportation operators to introduce NFC ticketing at a lower cost than has previously been possible.
"Our existing agreements with mobile network operators, a cloud-based delivery model and off-the-shelf mobile service capabilities make this a game changer," says David deKozan, vice president of strategic initiatives at Cubic.
"NextWave can help transit agencies get mobile services to market fast at a fraction of the cost associated with dedicated systems.
"At the same time, they are putting into place a solid foundation for the future that enables them to progressively move from conventional NFC fare processing to collaborative partnerships with mobile payment, NFC access and mobile marketing initiatives poised for broad industry adoption."
